MY ROLES
-
Created a Google form survey, conducted interviews and outsourced secondary sources for our research process
-
Supported our client's engagement with non-profit organizations by designing a microsite with high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes, displaying an example of an event conference
-
Received feedback from our team's mentor and iterated work until completion
THE OBJECTIVE
To work with a developing cooperative organization, Atria Tech Coop, and support their goal to eliminate poverty, specifically in Vancouver, BC. This project was submitted in the Eunoia Hackthon 2023, a UX design competition hosted by students for students from Simon Fraser University, Surrey campus.
DISCLAIMER: Atria Coop was a real client but was studied for research purposes.
THE SOLUTION
How might we help Atria Tech Coop gain trust from other non-profit organizations, in order to create collaboration between organizations towards helping those living in poverty?
Our project goal was to gain the trust from other non-profit organizations (NPO) by creating a hypothetical networking event, Altru Conference, a microsite that displays this event hosted by Atria Tech Coop. The event aims to bring together selfless individuals and organizations with a shared goal of eliminating poverty in Vancouver.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE
Atria Tech's original targeted audience were the caring and disengaged group of 30+ year old's family-oriented, kind-heated and who have stable jobs. However, OUR team focused on the non-profit organizations who share similar goals of eliminating poverty.
According to Atria Tech they state:

Our team sought the importance of non-profit organizations as they create beginnings to support our client and become successful in the community. In order for Atria Tech to thrive as a new organization and prove they can help the community eliminate poverty, they need the assistance from other non-profit organizations to grow.
This all starts with building TRUST with other non-profit organizations!
RESEARCH AND SCOPE
USER FLOW
For our project, we wanted to provide our target audience reasons to engage with our design. We wanted to create motivation or goals by building awareness and new connections between our client and other NPO. Atria Tech's website (and their desire to use social media) needed to include more information that audiences can find. Browsing the website should include a Call to Action (CTA) in order to engage with Atria Tech's community (eg; registering for an event). Finally, we wanted to have incentives, which are the reasons why donating to Atria Tech would be beneficial to help the community.

DESIGN PROCESS
1. Landing Events Page
With the help of my teammate's content information, I designed the mockups for our microsite. When our target audience (NPO) clicks on an event, they are introduced with an immersive video of what is expected at the event (Altru Conference). As they scroll down, our audiences are given information about the event: how to register, where donations are heading to, what is expected at the event (workshops), who are the hosts, sponsors and the agenda for the event.
My team and I chose to design this way because we wanted to give our audience more information in order to be transparent with them and what Atria Tech can offer. This will be able to gain the trust of other NPO as they will have a concrete idea of the events our client introduces.
2. Transparency and Gaining Trust: an extent of our microsite for event donations
In order to really gain the trust with our audience (NPO), our team decided to create an extent of our microsite by showcasing an in-depth explanation of where donations of ticket sales from the event (Altru Conference) will go to. By doing so, this enlightened our idea of helping our client become MORE transparent with their audiences so people will know what, how and why they are donating towards the event.
I designed the mockups and prototypes where users are immersed, again, with a full-bleed video to showcase how donations are taken. They are also free to hover over images and read more details about proceed donations. I chose to design this way because I wanted to engage our audiences with an appealing and interactive way while also having our client being transparent of their expertise and donation process, gaining the trust of other non-profits in the community who are considering the event.
FINAL OUTCOME AND TAKEAWAYS
Despite the one week process, I enjoyed this project with my team and learned a lot about UX research, interviewing a client and was given more opportunities to gather research to help our client's problems. If I were to re-create this project and had MORE TIME, I would definitely consider reaching out and interviewing more NPO about their perspectives on our client and what we can do to help, try out usability testing of our microsite with NPO, and redesigning more of Atria Tech's website to deeply develop full transparency and trust with their audiences.
